Okay. I confess. I’ve been AWOL as a blogger. I believe what I’ve written in the past is still valuable, which is why I continue to refer people to my blog. A lot has happened. I wrote and published a book – The Vital Balance Technique, which is available on Amazon.com. Since then, I’ve started another book, which I hope will be out by next year. In the meantime, I’m happy to share some thoughts. Today, I want to talk about allergies. I am certified in NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique). This is a great technique, although with the Vital Balance Technique, I don’t find it necessary to follow the exact NAET protocol. The founders of NAET are very particular about how practitioners use NAET. So, I don’t claim to be doing NAET unless I follow their procedures. I have modified my approach to allergies within the Vital Balance Technique, but I wouldn’t have been able to do it effectively without my NAET foundation.

What is an allergy? A standard definition might be “an exaggerated immune system response to a harmless substance”. While that is true, when we look at it from an energetic perspective, we can see it in a broader sense. I would say that it is an inappropriate incompatibility between two energetic entities. That could be just about anything. If there is a substance or energy that is not healthy, such as poison, then of course it is not compatible with a healthy physiology. However, there are frequently instances where a person’s body, or a part of the body, is not in harmony with the energy of something else. That “something else” could be a simple irritant, such as pollen or dust, a food or drink, a radiation, such as EMF (electromagnetic frequency, like Wi-Fi or cell phone), other substances in the air (smoke, etc.), or even essential nutrients.
Some allergens can be even less obvious, such as a person or an idea. The incompatibility, as taught to me by the NAET instructors, can be physical, physiological (chemical), and/or emotional. With the Vital Balance Technique (VBT), I’m able to get more specific about the allergy. I’ve found that sometimes a specific part of the body has the allergy, while the rest of the body is okay with it. I often find that a body part is struggling with another part of the body or a substance in the body, such as an enzyme or a hormone.
Allergy symptoms can be obvious, such as hay fever with its teary eyes, runny nose and sneezing. Most allergies that I find are not so obvious. We may not even make the connection consciously. You may eat something that puts stress on your body, making you feel sluggish and tired. You may have painful periods or even infertility because a part of your body isn’t reacting well to a particular hormone. You may have weight gain and depression from low thyroid, even though you have plenty of thyroid hormones circulating in your bloodstream, because your body isn’t able to use the hormones as it should. You may effectively have a vitamin deficiency even though you have plenty of it in your diet, simply because your digestive system is rejecting it somewhat. There really is no end to the number of possibilities for incompatibilities in and with your body.
So, what can be done about it? The medical approach is to either avoid the offending substance or to reduce the response of your immune system so it won’t overreact. One of the main chemicals involved in an allergic response is histamine, which is produced by your immune system. This chemical messenger triggers common allergy symptoms, such as sneezing, itching and inflammation. Therefore, the most commonly used medication to fight the allergy symptoms is an antihistamine. This can help you feel better, but it does nothing to correct the allergy.
With our energy work, since we see an allergy as an incompatibility between two energies, the treatment is to eliminate or reduce the incompatibility. We can’t change the energy of a substance, but we can do some reset of your energy in relation to that substance. With NAET, they use acupressure in a certain pattern while the person is holding a vial that has the energy of the offending substance. With VBT, it’s somewhat similar and has the same objective. We can also do it electronically, such as with the Qi-5 system. These techniques are very effective at helping adjust the person’s energy to be more compatible with anything that is stressing the body that shouldn’t be stressing the body.

further where I could easily tell if someone did or did not have this particular brain energy that I have come to associate with indigos. So I believe that my test is reliable for determining if someone is indigo, without having to simply rely on a list of personality traits.
I’ve written before about how the purpose of life is to have joy and that happiness can be gained in a variety of ways, especially with expressing gratitude. Since we’re all looking for happiness, it’s normal to associate happiness with particular people, places, events, foods, etc. This can sometimes be helpful. When we start to lose our way on the path to joy, they can be an anchor – something we can return to that reminds us of happier times, thus enabling us to re-experience that feeling of happiness. Sometimes however, these associations can be destructive. Perhaps the most common of these are sweet foods. People frequently get into a cycle where they eat to feel happy (comfort foods), but then they gain weight. When they see the weight gain, it causes a degree of sadness and disappointment. So where do they go for comfort? Sweet, fatty foods. Then they get into that downward spiral. I knew another guy who was a clean freak. He would spend so much time cleaning that he would often fall short on other important responsibilities. That would make him feel guilty. How did he deal with the feelings of guilt? Clean some more.
